SHOW RELEASE:
Formed in 2003 while detained in Pyongyang, North Korea during a military quarantine, the quartet began creating dirt rituals and processional pageants honoring the native-Korean Sapali dog and its traditional role in dispelling evil spirits. After being granted leave from North Korea in 2005 the group has alternately been based in Tokyo, Fes, Madrid and the Scottish Isles, their projects spanning the spectrum from religious ceremony to armed conflict. For Ballhaus Naunyn the group has prepared a performance based loosely on the Attomit legend of Crow-butter and smoke.
